The Sheriff's Office has arrested 18 year old JOSHUA ALEXANDER COOPER of Harrison, Arkansas on a theft of property charge after he attempted to sell a pickup truck on Facebook Marketplace that did not belong to him.

On Monday, November 24th, the Sheriff was contacted by a person who reported that a friend was in the process of purchasing a vehicle through Facebook Marketplace from an individual who he believed did not actually own the vehicle.  The vehicle was parked at a location just outside of Mountain Home, and the parties were scheduled to meet at that location at approximately 7:00 PM to finalize this transaction.

Sheriff's Office Investigator Bryce Hinson was assigned to the case and contacted the intended victim.  The victim was scheduled to meet with a JOSHUA COOPER to purchase a 1983 Chevrolet pickup truck for $1,000 cash.  The actual owner of the vehicle was determined, and he was contacted by Investigator Hinson.  The owner of the vehicle stated the truck was not for sale, and that he had no knowledge of a JOSHUA COOPER.

Investigator Hinson accompanied the intended victim to the scheduled meeting place with JOSHUA COOPER.  Once COOPER arrived, the victim and COOPER made a cash exchange of $1,000 for the vehicle, as well as the signing of a bill of sale.  This transaction was witnessed and recorded by Investigator Hinson.

JOSHUA COOPER was then placed under arrest.  When asked why he was attempting to sell a vehicle that did not belong to him, he answered that he just "messed up".

JOSHUA ALEXANDER COOPER was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center where he was booked on a felony charge of Theft of Property.  He was released from custody after posting bond in the amount of $5,000.  He will appear before the Circuit Court to answer on December 1st.
