Clarkridge Man Arrested For 1st Degree Domestic Battery

 

On December 1, 2020 at approximately 11:52 am, 911 received a call from a woman who said she had been shot by her boyfriend.  Baxter County Sheriff's Deputies and ambulance personnel from Baxter Regional Medical Center responded to 188 Somer View Drive in Clarkridge. 

When the first deputy arrived, he found the suspect laying face down on the ground and was taken into custody without incident. The victim was located and had what appeared to be injuries consistent with a shotgun blast.

The victim told Sheriff's Investigators she and her boyfriend, who live together at this address, had been arguing and while she was outside the residence, he shot at her with a shotgun.  She stated he then placed the shotgun in a gun safe in the residence.  The 34-year-old victim, was transported by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center where she was treated for wounds consistent with a shotgun blast and released

Investigators learned the suspect was a convicted felon.  A search warrant was obtained and executed at the residence.  Located in the gun safe were several firearms and ammunition, including a 12-gauge pump shotgun.   

Anthony Wayne Thurman, age 35 of Clarkridge was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center and was charged with:

Domestic Battery in the First-Degree     Class B Felony
Felon in Possession of a Firearm     Class B Felony

He is currently being held on bond of $75,000 pending his appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court on December 3, 2020.
