One person is in Sheriff's Office custody after a shooting death that occurred Monday afternoon, October 5th,  in the Lone Rock area.

At approximately 2:00 PM Monday, the Baxter County Sheriff's Office was notified that a shooting had occurred at 813 CR 111 in Lone Rock.  The shooter had called 9-1-1 from that location to report he had shot and killed another man there.  The cell phone call was routed to the Stone County Sheriff's Office in Mountain View, which took the information and relayed it to Baxter County.

Sheriff's Office personnel responded to the address and made contact with the suspect caller and also found the body of the victim, a 41 year old male.  The handgun used was also located and taken into evidence.  The victim was identified as 41 year old JEREMY WAYNE ALMAN of Salesville, Arkansas.

The suspect caller was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office to be interviewed.

The Baxter County Coroner's Office took possession of the body of the deceased, which is being sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner's Office in Little Rock for autopsy.  The suspect refused to make a statement or answer any questions.  After conferring with the Prosecuting Attorney, it was decided to charge the suspect, 17 year old BAXTER MORRELL STOWERS of Salesville, with Murder in the First Degree.  He is being charged as an adult in the criminal division of the Baxter Count Circuit Court.  BAXTER STOWERS was booked into the Detention Center and is currently being held in lieu of $200,000 bond.  He is scheduled to appear before the Circuit Court to answer the charge on October 16th.

The shooting is still under active investigation by law enforcement.  Additional details will be released as the investigation allows for it.
