Additional Burglary Charges Filed on Two Parolees and Third Suspect

On April 20th, 2018 the owner / proprietor of the Buzzard Roost Citgo, located at 1954 Buzzard Roost Road in Mountain Home contacted the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office to report a commercial burglary and theft. 

Sheriff's Investigators processed the scene and observed on video surveillance an unknown suspect break the glass on the front door and gain entrance to the business.  The suspect was observed taking cash from the cash registers, cigarettes and an unknown number of lottery tickets. 

Later in the day, Mountain Home Police Investigators received information of three possible suspects in the case.  Based upon this and other evidence gathered at the scene, a search warrant was obtained and executed (see below)

Additional charges have now been filed against Zachary Bales and Taylor Dewitt and a third suspect, 25 year old Anthony Thomas Dechow of Mountain Home was also charged with the burglary. 

All three, Zachary Roy Bales, Taylor Lynn DeWitt and Anthony Dechow are charged with:

Commercial Burglary
Theft of Property

All three are currently being held in the Baxter County Detention Center pending their appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court on

  Two people were arrested this morning on drug and weapons charges after investigators served a search warrant at 320 W. North St. in Mountain Home.  The warrant was obtained based upon information supplied to investigators by an informant.

     During the service of the search warrant, drugs and weapons were found that resulted in the arrest of 31 year old ZACHARY ROY BALES and 23 year old TAYLOR LYNN DEWITT at that residence.  Investigators found approximately 4.6 grams of methamphetamine, articles of drug paraphernalia, and two firearms, one of which was a sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun. BALES and DEWITT were both transported to the Sheriff’s Office for further investigation

     Charges being filed are as follows:

ZACHARY ROY BALES charged with:
Possession of Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) with Purpose to Deliver – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts) – Felonies
Criminal Use of Prohibited Weapon – Felony
Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons (convicted felon) – Felony
Firearms Possession During Commission of Another Crime – Felony

     ZACHARY BALES has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center a total of 16 times since 2012.  He was given a bond of $35,000 on these charges and will appear in Circuit Court later this month to answer.

TAYLOR LYNN DEWITT charged with:

Possession of Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) with Purpose to Deliver – Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts) – Felonies
Criminal Use of Prohibited Weapon – Felony
Firearms Possession During Commission of Another Crime – Felony

     TAYLOR DEWITT has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center a total of 3 times since 2017.  She was given a bond of $25,000 on these charges and will appear in Circuit Court later this month to answer.

     The investigation is continuing, and additional charges on another case are expected.  Agencies involved in the investigation and arrests were the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police, 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force, and the Mountain Home Police Department.
