FOUR ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGE DURING PROBATION COMPLIANCE CHECK

     Four people were arrested on drug charges this morning during a probation compliance home check at a residence on State Hwy 126 North.  Two probationers, 42 year old DARREN NEWCOMB and 51 year old BOBBIE JOE NELSON, reside there.  Two women were also found at the residence.  They were identified as 37 year old SABRINA NEWBORN of Clarkridge and 45 year old BRANDI VANAMBERG of rural Gassville.

     During a search of the residence by Sheriff’s Investigators and officers of the Mountain Home Police Department and 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force, approximately 4.9 grams of powdered methamphetamine were found, as well as approximately 210 grams of a liquid substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.  Various items of drug paraphernalia including smoking devices, syrings, butane lighters, scales, and mirrors were also found.

     In DARREN NEWCOMB’s bedroom officers found a Savage Arms .20 gauge shotgun. NEWCOMB is a convicted felon and thereby prohibited from possessing firearms.

    All four persons were arrested and taken into custody.  They were transported to the Baxter County Detention Center and each booked on charges of:

Possession of Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver (1 count each) – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts each) – Felonies

     DARREN NEWCOMB was also charged separately with Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons (convicted felon), which is a felony charge.

     Bond was set at $20,000 each for NELSON, NEWBORN, and VANAMBERG.  Bond was set at $25,000 for NEWCOMB.  They will each appear before the Circuit Court to answer the charges on April 12th.
