The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported armed robbery that occurred late Sunday evening, July 23rd.  A man called the 911 center at approximately 11:38 PM stating that he had been robbed at gunpoint on State Highway 201 North near the entrance to the Pigeon Creek Park.

The victim told responding deputies that he was driving on Highway 201 North and came across a vehicle blocking the roadway at the bridge at Pigeon Creek.  The victim stated he got out of his car thinking the other motorist needed assistance.  The victim stated that a man then got out of the other car with a gun and pointed it at him demanding cash.  The victim gave the gunman $9.00 in cash, which was all that he had.  A second man had also exited the suspect vehicle, approaching the victim from behind.  The second man then struck the victim in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground.  Both suspects then returned to their vehicle and proceeded North bound  on Highway 201 toward Missouri.

The suspect vehicle was described as a red 4 door Ford Escort or Geo Prizm bearing Arkansas license plates.   No further description of the vehicle or the suspects is available at present.  An ambulance from Baxter Regional Medical Center was dispatched to the scene, and the victim ended up being transported to the BRMC Emergency Room by ambulance to be treated.

Law enforcement agencies in Ozark County and Howell County, Missouri were alerted of the incident.  The matter is currently under further investigation.  Anyone having information concerning this matter is asked to contact the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office or their local law enforcement agency.
