11/19/2013

Thomas Terry Montgomery

A Baxter County man, 59 year old THOMAS TERRY MONTGOMERY, was arrested this afternoon at his residence by Baxter County Sheriff’s Corporal Kristofer Savino on an outstanding felony bench warrant for Theft of Public Benefits.

According to an affidavit filed by a Fraud Investigator with the Arkansas Department of Human Services, THOMAS MONTGOMERY made application for re-certification in the Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) on February 7, 2013, stating he had not been convicted of or plead guilty to any felony crime.  A subsequent inquiry found that THOMAS MONTGOMERY had been convicted in Baxter County Circuit Court of a felony drug crime on February 16, 2013, thereby making him permanently ineligible to receive assistance from the SNAP program.  During the period of March, 2013 to August, 2013, the affidavit states that THOMAS MONTGOMERY received $642.00 in SNAP benefits for which he was not eligible.

THOMAS MONTGOMERY was booked in the Detention Center at 3:57 PM and released shortly thereafter after posting $1,500 bond.  He will appear in Circuit Court on November 21st.
