SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING DEATH FROM SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT WOUND
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death at residence on Baxter CR 1043 in the rural Mountain Home area. At approximately 2:19 PM today, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a man at that residence who was found deceased from a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Sheriff’s Investigators arrived and found the man, who is believed to be 71 years of age. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his head. This is believed to have been caused from a 30-30 rifle round. A 30-30 caliber rifle was found with the victim and was taken into evidence.
The Baxter County Coroner’s Office was summoned to assist and take possession of the body. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, who are believed to be out of state. The Sheriff’s Office has no reason at the time to suspect foul play, and the incident is being investigated as a suicide.
