05/25/2012

Joseph Anthony Killinger

A Henderson man was arrested Thursday afternoon, May 24th, on a charge of being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm following an investigation into a complaint made on May 23rd of a man shooting a rifle off his deck.

The complaining witness informed Sheriff’s Corporal Scott Thrasher that she had observed this man shooting a rifle off the back deck of his residence at 326 CR 835 on Wednesday, May 23rd.  Corporal Thrasher made inquiry with the suspect, who denied having discharged a firearm from the deck and alleged the gun had been fired by a another person.

Investigators determined that the suspect was a convicted felon, thereby making it unlawful for him to possess a firearm.  Investigators obtained a warrant to search the residence of the suspect for firearms.  The search warrant was served at approximately 1:32 PM on Thursday, May 24th.  Investigators seized two firearms from the suspect’s residence, an AR-14 rifle and a 12 gauge automatic shotgun.

The suspect, 66 year old JOSEPH ANTHONY KILLINGER, was taken into custody and booked into the Detention Center on a felony charge of Possession of Firearm by Certain Persons (i.e. a convicted felon).  He was released from custody after posting bond in the amount of $10,000 and will appear in Circuit Court on May 31st.
