Mother and Son Arrested For Residential Burglary and Theft of Property

Earlier this month a report was made to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office about a Residential Burglary and Theft at a residence on Glenbriar Street near Mountain Home. Two China Cabinets, Computer and various other items were reported missing from the residence.

Baxter County Criminal Investigator Eric Neal developed suspects in this case and an affidavit and arrest warrant was issued for the mother, Valeory Hodges and her son, Gary Barker. Search warrants were signed and executed at both the suspect's home on Highway 62 East and at a mini storage unit that was rented to Hodges. The two were arrested without incident and booked into the Baxter County Detention Center.

Investigators believe the two suspects drove to the victim's home and Barker was the lookout while the Hodges burglarized the home and took the articles. The two suspects then loaded the articles in Hodges truck, and left the scene. The suspects knew the victim and it is believed the burglary was done in retaliation of an incident earlier where the victim threatened Barker with a baseball bat.

Valeory Virginia Hodges, age 43 of Mountain Home and Gary Lee Barker, age 19 of Mountain Home, are both charged with:

Residential Burglary      Class B Felony
Theft of Property            Class D Felony

Valeory Hodges is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center on bond of $15,000 pending her appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court on January 06, 2011. Gary Barker posted a $15,000 bond and was released pending his court date of January 06, 2011.
