ARREST MADE IN ASSAULT INCIDENT FROM OCTOBER 3RD

On October 5th, Sheriff's Investigators were contacted in regards to an assault that was said to have occurred on the evening of October 3rd at 6971 Highway 5 North in the Midway area. A victim in the assault had sustained serious injuries, although the incident was not reported at the time it occurred. The victim was at that time said to be at a medical center in Memphis, Tennessee preparing to undergo surgery to treat his injuries, and his fiancée was reporting the assault on is behalf.

Investigator Drayton McDaniel was assigned to follow-up on the complaint. He obtained several statements and conducted several interviews with witnesses and others present at a gathering at the residence on the night in question. According to the allegations made, the offender, who was identified as Donovan Kyle Reed, 19 years old of rural Mountain Home, confronted the victim inside the residence.

The offender was said to have struck the victim in the face twice with closed fists, knocking the victim to the ground. The offender then struck the victim two or three more times in the face while he was down. As a result of the assault, the victim sustained fractures and injuries requiring medical care, including surgery.

The offender was also interviewed at the Criminal Investigation Offices about the incident. Investigator McDaniel then obtained a Warrant of Arrest for the offender, which was served today.

Donovan Kyle Reed, 19 years old of rural Mountain Home, was charged by warrant with:

Battery in the Second Degree - Class D Felony

Reed was taken to the Detention Center and released from custody after posting $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on December 10th.
