The Baxter County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into a death on Moccasin creek. Shortly after 8AM this morning, August 15th, a motorist driving on State Highway 5 South observed a body floating in Moccasin Creek, which is at the Baxter County/Izard County line.
Deputies and other responders arrived on scene and found a nude decomposing body floating in the creek. The body was that of an adult male. Deputies canvassed the residences in the area, but nobody who was contacted had any information as to who the decedent might be. An officer with the Mountain Home Police Department responded with a drone, which he flew over the general area to see if any other evidence could be seen, but nothing was found.
The body was removed by the Baxter County Coroner's Office. The body will be sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner's Office in Little Rock for autopsy to determine manner and cause of death and to assist in attempting to identify the decedent.
