08/29/2022

Erica M. Rorie

The Sheriff's Office has arrested 38  year old ERIKA MAGAN RORIE or rural Mountain Home on multiple charges after a deputy on patrol found her sitting on the side of the roadway Sunday morning, August 28th around 6:30 AM.

Sheriff's Deputy Selena Harris came across RORIE on Baxter CR 28 while patrolling the area.  RORIE was sitting on the side of the roadway, and the deputy stopped to check on the woman's welfare.  When making a brief inquiry, the woman gave vague and conflicting information as to her identity and why she was sitting beside the roadway.  The woman said she was picking up her boyfriend's mail, yet she could not provide the name of her boyfriend or his address.

While the deputy was speaking with the woman, the deputy noticed several articles of mail scattered around where the woman had been sitting.  The mail was addressed to various other persons living in that area yet were in the possession of this woman, who was later identified as ERIKA MAGAN RORIE.

Deputy Harris placed RORIE under arrest for Theft, since she was in possession of mail belonging to other people.  RORIE asked if she could just be allowed to return the mail to the people it belonged to rather than be arrested.

When conducting a search of property in RORIE'S possession following the arrest, Deputy Harris found 33 pieces of mail belonging to seven different individuals.  Deputy Harris also found approximately 3 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in RORIE'S purse, as well as various prescription pills, marijuana, and brass knuckles.

ERIKA MAGAN RORIE was subsequently transported to the Baxter County Detention Center where she was booked and incarcerated for the offenses of:

Possession of Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) - Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Felony
Criminal Use of Prohibited Weapons - Felony
Possession of Controlled Substance (2 counts) - Misdemeanors
Theft of Property (33 counts) - Misdemeanors

RORIE was released from detention after posting $15,000 bond.  She will appear before the Circuit Court to answer on September 19th.
