Baxter County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a shooting incident on Baxter CR 13 that was reported this morning, May 20th, at approximately 7:33 AM and have made an arrest.

The Sheriff's Office was notified by the 9-1-1 call center that a man had suffered a gunshot wound during a domestic disturbance and had gone next door to 59 CR 13.  It was reported he had been shot by his girlfriend at the adjoining residence.  He was still mobile and responsive.

Deputies and EMS first responders arrived on scene at approximately 7:41 AM.  The victim had been shot in the chest with a handgun by his girlfriend, identified as 51 year old STACY L. CONLEY, who resides next door at 61 CR 13.  The shooting took place outside in the yard at that residence.  A witness reported hearing the two arguing back and forth and then heard the gunshot.

STACY CONLEY was found shortly thereafter at a nearby family member's residence at 63 CR 13.  She surrendered herself to deputies and was taken into custody.  The handgun used in the shooting was located and taken into evidence.  When searching the property deputies found a small amount of methamphetamine that was with CONLEY'S driver license.

The male victim was transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center by ambulance for care.  STACY CONLEY was taken to the Sheriff's Office to be interviewed and given an opportunity to give a statement.  Afterwards, she was taken over to the Baxter County Detention Center and booked on charges of:

Domestic Battery in the First Degree - Felony
Possession of Controlled Substance -  Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Misdemeanor

She is currently being held in custody in lieu of $75,000 bond, and she will appear before the Circuit Court to answer on June 3rd.
