The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office experienced a relatively calm and uneventful Memorial Day holiday weekend this year. There were 90 complaint calls or calls for service made to the Sheriff’s Office from Friday through Monday.  This represents a 10% decrease from last year during the same period.  There were 22 bookings made into the Baxter County Detention Center by all agencies during this time on various charges.  This represents a 1% increase from last year.  Some of those bookings were for:

Driving While Intoxicated                           3
Boating While Intoxicated                          2
Possession of Drugs or Paraphernalia          3
Warrants Served                                       5

In addition to the Detention Center bookings, Sheriff’s Deputies issued:

Citations for Traffic Violations or Misdemeanors             25
Warnings for Traffic Violations                                      19

The Sheriff’s Office again worked jointly with the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers Park Rangers patrolling public campgrounds and public use areas on the North Fork River, Norfork Lake, and Bull Shoals Lake that are within Baxter County.  No serious holiday-related incidents were reported in the unincorporated areas of Baxter County.
