Early Morning Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

In the early morning hours this date, Baxter County Corporal Rockie Morrell was on patrol on Hwy 5 near Hospital Drive when he observed a vehicle matching the description of a BOLO that had been put out earlier in the evening.  Deputy Morrell made a traffic stop on the vehicle and had the driver exit the vehicle. During the pat down of the driver, a glass pipe, commonly used to ingest methamphetamine, fell out of the driver’s pocket. The driver, Jessica Shafer was then placed in handcuffs. During the post arrest search of the vehicle, a needle and a bag containing a pipe and marijuana was found. 

Jessica Lynn Shafer, age 33 of Lakeview was charged with:

2-Counts - Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Class D Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Class A Misdemeanor
Possession of a Controlled Substance, Class A Misdemeanor
Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle, Class A Misdemeanor

Shafer is currently being held on 3500 bond pending her appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court on December 14, at 1 pm
