ORIGINAL RELEASE 09/28/2017:

A Norfork area man, 38 year old NATHANIEL JOHN CAMPBELL, was arrested Wednesday, September 27th, following an investigation into the theft of an Arctic Cat Prowler side by side from the Ideal RV Center on September 17th.

During the course of the investigation into the theft, the location of the stolen side by side was determined yesterday to be in the back yard at the residence of NATHANIEL JOHN CAMPBELL at 18922 Hwy 5 South.

Sheriff’s Investigators located the stolen side by side vehicle at that location.  It was inspected for a vehicle identification number (VIN), but the VIN was found to have been removed from the frame.  The Arctic Cat Prowler had been spray painted black on the outside, and both rear tires and rims had been removed and were damaged.  Other alterations to the body and cab were noticeable.  Estimated damage is in excess of $2,000.  The vehicle was identifiable by pictures showing prior damage to the roof, glove box, and color.  The inside of the hood had not been re-painted and revealed the original color.

While inspecting the vehicle, a loaded .22 caliber rifle was found in the front seat. CAMPBELL was taken into custody and transported to the Detention Center where he was booked on charges of:

Theft by Receiving – Felony
Criminal Mischief in the First Degree – Felony
Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons (convicted felon) – Felony
Altering or Changing Engine or Other Numbers – Felony

NATHANIEL CAMPBELL is being held in lieu of $15,000 bond, and he will appear before the Baxter Circuit Court to answer on October 19th.  CAMPBELL has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center a total of 22 times since 2007.

The investigation has identified two additional suspects in the theft and is ongoing.
