Two people were arrested on burglary and drug charges Friday evening, August 25th, after deputies responded to suspected trespassers at 446 Springlake Drive.

The owner of the residence was out of town, and a neighbor contacted him when she observed suspicious persons at the residence.  The owner confirmed that nobody had permission to be at the residence.

On arrival, deputies made contact with 34 year old CHRISTOPHER GENE SANDERS and 36 year old SARA LENA SANDERS.  During the investigation, it was determined that CHRISTOPHER SANDERS knew the son of the property owner and had spent the night at the residence once about 10 months ago.  Both of the SANDERS admitted they did not have permission or consent to be at the residence and had gained entry through a back door.

A search of the residence uncovered approximately 8.1 grams of marijuana and various articles of drug paraphernalia, which CHRISTOPHER SANDERS admitted were his. CHRISTOPHER and SARA SANDERS had apparently been living in the house for a number of days.

They were both arrested and taken to the Detention Center and were both booked on charges of:

Residential Burglary – Felony
Theft of Property – Misdemeanor
Possession of Controlled Substance – Misdemeanor
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor

They were released from custody after posting $15,000 bond each and will appear in the Circuit Court to answer on September 14th.
