Update: SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR POSSIBLE DROWNING VICTIM ON LAKE NORFORK

The body of 70 year old Charles Hogan Daniels of Jordan was recovered just before noon today. Divers from the Arkansas Game and Fish recovered the body in approximately 114 feet of water.   (See original release below) The Baxter County Coroner has ruled it an accidental Drowning.

Emergency service personnel responded to a call from Jordan Marina at approximately 3:47 PM Sunday on a report that a man had jumped into the water of Lake Norfork from a boat and disappeared.  This was reported by three other persons who were with the man when this occurred.  The man was identified as 70 year old CHARLES HOGAN DANIELS of Jordan.  The location given was North of Jordan Island. 

     The Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas Game and Fish, U. S. Army Corp of Engineers Rangers, and Fire/Rescue teams went to the area by boat and began to search for the man.  At approximately 11:30 PM Sunday, search teams believed they had possibly found the body on sonar in approximately 115 feet of water.  A recovery team of divers will be at the location this morning.  They will dive and attempt to find and recover the body.
