SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED FOR FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

     A local registered sex offender was incarcerated today in the Baxter County Detention Center for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration requirements after being arrested by the Gassville Police Department and the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections. 

     ALTON BRUCE COOKE, 25 years old and registered as residing  at 348 South Johnson Street in Gassville, was found instead to have been staying at a residence on Kelley Lane in Gassville.  This address is located in close proximity to the Gassville City Park, and a sex offender is prohibited by law from residing at such a residence.  He was located at the address by Gassville Officers and taken into custody.

     ALTON COOKE is being held in the Detention Center on charges of:

Failure to Register – Felony
Parole Violation – Felony
Failure to Appear – Outstanding Misdemeanor Warrant

     He has a bond of $15,000 on the Failure to Register charge, but is being held without bond on the parole violation.  COOKE is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court to answer on September 22.
