SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATES DEATH AT SCENE OF DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE

10/30/2015

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a violent domestic disturbance that ended with the death of the male subject involved from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At approximately 10:17 AM today, the 911 Center received a third party call reporting a disturbance between a man and woman at 2497 Wildcat Shoals Road involving shots fired.  This third party caller was on the phone with an open line with the woman involved, and he was relaying what was being overheard to the 911 telecommunicator.  While deputies were responding, additional information received from the caller indicated the man was threatening suicide, then reporting that the woman was pinned to the floor screaming for help.

Deputies arrived on scene at approximately 10:29 AM and approached the residence.  They encountered the woman in the doorway, who was very shaken up, and then found the man deceased on the back deck from a shotgun blast.  The shotgun was found and taken into evidence.

Investigators observed that multiple rounds had also been fired inside the residence from a .22 caliber rifle, as well as considerable damage done inside.  The woman had not been shot, but she did sustain minor physical injury as a result of the scuffle.  She was planning to seek treatment for her injuries at the local hospital via private vehicle transport.

The deceased male has been identified as 45 year old TEDDY DEAN PLUMLEE of the residence.  The body of the deceased was removed by the County Coroner’s Office.  The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident, but all evidence at this time indicates the death was by suicide.
