08/18/2015

The Sheriff’s Office was called to a suspected drowning on Norfork Lake Monday evening. At approximately 5:55 PM, the 911 Center received a call that a woman had been recovered from the water and was unresponsive near the boat launch area of the Cranfield Park.

Sheriff’s Deputies and Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the scene. A private individual was administering CPR when EMS arrived, but the woman did not respond to efforts to revive her. She was pronounced deceased by the Baxter County Coroner.

Sheriff’s Investigators were told that the woman had been swimming at the Cranfield Park with friends. She was seen standing in the water beside her raft about 10-15 minutes before she was discovered underwater approximately 15 feet from the bank in an estimated five feet of water. The water temperature was approximately 89 degrees. The deceased was identified as Cassandra Lynn Gordon, 35 years old of Mountain Home.

The body will be sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock to determine cause of death.
