Acting on a citizen tip made yesterday to the Mountain Home Police Department, Sheriff’s Investigators were able to arrest a fugitive sex offender from Ohio this afternoon at a residence in the Henderson area.

The Mountain Home Police referred the tip to the Sheriff’s Office due to the location being outside the city. Sheriff’s Investigators followed-up with the State of Ohio this morning and obtained a photograph of the offender to assist with identifying the offender, who was said to be using a false name.

According to the citizen tip, the offender was said to be one LARRY E. THOMPSON. THOMPSON was said to be residing at a residence on Crystal Cove Road in Henderson and was said to be driving a white van with Ohio license plates. The tipster also indicated that THOMPSON was using an alias of Jasper Stevens.

Acting upon the information, Sheriff’s Investigators were able to determine that LARRY E. THOMPSON was entered in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as a wanted person. He was shown to be wanted by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio on a felony charge of Failure to Register as Sex Offender. He was also shown to be wanted by the Ohio Parole Authority for a Parole Violation. Information on those entries indicated that THOMPSON should be considered an escape risk with violent tendencies.

Information also indicated that THOMPSON was convicted in November, 2012 in Ohio of Gross Sexual Imposition/Sexual Assault and required to register.

This afternoon, Sheriff’s Investigators went to the area to search for THOMPSON. They located his vehicle at the residence at 736 Crystal Cove Road and saw a man matching his description standing in the doorway. Investigators quickly apprehended THOMPSON without incident.   The offender initially denied being LARRY THOMPSON, however when confronted with the evidence in possession of Investigators he confessed his true identity.

LARRY E. THOMPSON, 45 years of age, was transported to the Detention Center. He is being held without bond for extradition by the State of Ohio and will also be facing a charge in Baxter County for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
