DEPUTY ARRESTS MAN ON DRUG CHARGES AND WARRANTS

     A call to the Sheriff’s Office to check the welfare of a man reported to be passed out in a ditch resulted in his arrest on outstanding warrants and drug charges.  At approximately 2:18 PM on May 4th, Sheriff’s Deputy Chuck Menschik responded to such a call on Tranquilla Place in the rural Mountain Home area.

     Upon arrival, he found a man identified as LACKEY GENE COPLEN on the side of the roadway and made contact with him.  A Mountain Home Police Officer had already arrived and searched COPLEN.  The Mountain Home Officer found on COPLEN a syringe loaded with methamphetamine, Hydrocodone pills, and Clonazepam tablets. Deputy Menschik found that COPLEN had outstanding arrest warrants for probation violation and non-payment of fines.  He was arrested and taken into custody. 

     LACKEY GENE COPLEN was transported to the Detention Center and booked on charges of:

Possession of Methamphetamine – Felony
Possession of Controlled Substance (Hydrocodone) – Felony
Possession of Controlled Substance (Clonazepam) – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Felony
Probation Violation – Misdemeanor Non-Payment of Fines – Misdemeanor

    COPLEN remains in jail in lieu of $4,500 bond, and he will appear in Circuit Court to answer to drug charges on May 7th.
