The Sheriff’s Office has arrested 50 year old REBECCA MARIE MARTIN of rural Mountain Home on felony drug charges and two others as a result of an investigation into drug trafficking.  Sheriff’s Investigators obtained a warrant for her arrest on April 1, 2015 after serving a search warrant at her residence at 502 CR 30 on the morning of March 25, 2015.

Officers had been investigating reports of drug trafficking from the residence for many months and were able to obtain a warrant to search the residence from a judge. REBECCA MARTIN was not present at the residence when the search warrant was served, however officers did find another person, 58 year old DEAN HERMAN THOMPSON of Mountain Home at the residence.  During the search of the residence, officers found a duffle bag in the bedroom containing approximately 17.6 ounces of methamphetamine in plastic baggies.  The methamphetamine was pre-packaged in several different quantities varying from approximately 1 gram to approximately ¼ pound.  In addition, approximately ½ gram of the methamphetamine was found inside a dresser drawer.  Syringes and pipes used to inject or smoke methamphetamine were also found.  All items were seized and taken into evidence.  This represents one of the largest, if not the largest, individual seizures of methamphetamine in this jurisdiction.

DEAN HERMAN THOMPSON was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Detention Center following the search.  THOMPSON had over $4,000 in combined cash and a money order on his person, which was seized.   He was booked on charges of:

Trafficking a Controlled Substance – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts) – Felonies
Probation Hold – U. S. Marshals

He remains incarcerated in the Baxter County Detention Center on $150,000 bond.

Following the search, Sheriff’s Investigators obtained information that REBECCA MARTIN had left Arkansas in a motorhome and may be found in Ozark County, Missouri.  Investigators sought assistance from the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office.  The motorhome was located in Ozark County on April 2, 2015, but REBECCA MARTIN was not inside.  However, officers did find another fugitive from justice in the course of the investigation in Missouri,  43 year old DALE MARTIN of rural Mountain Home.  DALE MARTIN was wanted on four outstanding warrants from Baxter County, including warrants for Delivery of Methamphetamine, Failure to Appear, and Contempt of Court.  DALE MARTIN remains in custody in Missouri awaiting extradition to Baxter County.

REBECCA MARTIN turned herself in at the Baxter County Detention Center on April 6th at approximately 2:15 PM on the outstanding warrant charging her with:

Trafficking Controlled Substance – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts) - Felonies

She was booked and then released after posting bond in the amount of $150,000.  MARTIN is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court to answer the charges on April 16, 2015.

Agencies involved in the search of the residence, the follow-up search for REBECCA MARTIN, and the apprehension of DALE MARTIN  were the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, 14th Judicial Drug Task Force, Arkansas Department of Corrections Canine Team, Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri Drug Task Force, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
