REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES

05/02/2014

Mason Alexander Grant

A Mountain Home area man, 25 year old MASON ALEXANDER GRANT, was arrested at the Sheriff’s Office this afternoon on felony drug charges after he came inside to register as a sex offender.

MASON GRANT is on parole because of a conviction from Greene County, Arkansas for a sexual assault offense for which he is required to register as a sex offender.  GRANT came to the Sheriff’s Office for that purpose.  During the registration process, which requires obtaining vehicle and licensing information, it was learned that GRANT’s driver license was suspended.  When asked how he arrived at the Sheriff’s Office, GRANT initially stated that someone dropped him off.  A review of video surveillance footage, however, proved that GRANT had driven himself to the Sheriff’s Office.  GRANT was subsequently arrested for driving while license suspended.

Prior to his being taken to the Detention Center, GRANT was searched.  Officers found a small amount of suspected methamphetamine in his shirt pocket, as well as drug paraphernalia.

MASON ALEXANDER GRANT was booked into the Detention Center at 1:42 PM on charges of:

Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Felony
Driving While License Suspended – Misdemeanor

Bond on those charges is $3,790.00, however a no bond hold was also placed for a parole violation.  GRANT will appear in Circuit Court on May 8th.
