MAN INJURES HIS HAND DURING ACCIDENTAL FIREARM DISCHARGE
The Sheriff’s Office was asked to send a deputy this morning to the Emergency Room at Baxter Regional Medical Center in response to an accidental gunshot wound sustained by a 63 year old Wisconsin man.
Jeffrey A. Franklin of Endeavor, Wisconsin told Sheriff’s Sergeant Andy Bower that he was cleaning his .45 caliber Remington 1911 model pistol at his vacation home on Timberlane Road in rural Mountain Home. Mr. Franklin stated he removed the magazine from the pistol, but apparently forgot to clear the chamber. The gun discharged, and Mr. Franklin’s left hand was injured from a grazing wound.
Mr. Franklin drove himself to the emergency room for treatment. All indications are that the incident was an accident.
