MAN TURNS HIMSELF IN AFTER INCIDENT FRIDAY NIGHT

05/19/2012

Vernon Carl Henson

VERNON CARL HENSON, 44 years old of rural Mountain Home, turned himself in at the Detention Center this afternoon following an incident that occurred Friday evening, May 18th, that deputies had been seeking HENSON on.

The Sheriff’s Office was notified of a 911 call at approximately 7:27 PM Friday evening from 11-1 Hunt Club Drive reporting that a man had threatened several other people with a shotgun.  Sheriff’s Corporal Scott Thrasher responded, but the suspect, who was identified as VERNON HENSON, had already fled from the scene before the Corporal Thrasher arrived.

Victims and witnesses told Corporal Thrasher that VERNON HENSON had approached them with a shotgun and threatened them with it.  They were able to take the shotgun away from HENSON, and he then fled.  Corporal Thrasher confiscated the shotgun, which was loaded, and took it into evidence.  Officers attempted to locate HENSON in the area, but he was not found at that time.

This afternoon at approximately 5:39 PM, VERNON HENSON came to the Detention Center to turn himself in.  He was taken into custody and booked on charges of:

Aggravated Assault – Felony
Felon in Possession of a Firearm – Felony

HENSON is being held in lieu of $15,000 bond, and he will appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on May 24th to answer those charges.
