NEW KIOSK INSTALLED IN DETENTION CENTER FOR COMMISSARY ACCOUNTS

04/17/2012

The Baxter County Detention Center has installed a new device that will allow persons to deposit monies into an inmate’s commissary account after normal business hours, as well as allowing online money transfers using a credit card.

A new kiosk from Tiger Commissary has been installed in the lobby of the Detention Center.  This kiosk is inter-faced with the Sheriff’s Office Inmate Commissary System.  Members of the public will be able to utilize this kiosk at any time to deposit funds into the commissary account of an individual county jail inmate.  The kiosk will accept cash and credit card transfers.  There will be a $2.50 transaction fee for each cash deposit, and there will be a 10% transaction fee for each deposit or transfer made from a credit card.  Some debit cards can be accepted if they can be used as a credit card without needing a PIN number.  The person adding funds will be issued a receipt from the kiosk at the end of the transaction.

In addition to using the new kiosk, persons may also make commissary deposits by credit card online from any computer by visiting www.tigerdeposit.com , selecting “Arkansas”, then “Baxter County”, and then selecting the individual jail inmate who is to receive the funds.  The transfer of funds is immediately credited to the inmate’s account.

It should be noted that once a transaction has been completed, it cannot be reversed and refunds cannot be issued to the person making the deposit, nor can funds be transferred later from one inmate’s account to that of another inmate.  Persons should make certain they have selected the correct jail inmate and the proper amount they wish to deposit before finalizing the transaction.

Jail inmates utilize the funds in their individual commissary accounts to purchase items such as snacks, toiletries, paper products, stamps, and other such items.

Access to the lobby kiosk will be available every day at all times.  Persons not wishing to use the kiosk will still be permitted to add cash for an inmate’s commissary account by delivering it to the Jailer during normal office hours, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, holidays excepted.
