MAN IS CHARGED WITH FAIL TO REGISTER AS SEX OFFENDER

04/09/2012

Gerald Leroy Stow

A man who has been living in Baxter County since at least November, 2004 has been arrested and charged with a felony offense of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.  59 year old GERALD LEROY STOW of 149 Lake Lane in rural Mountain Home turned himself in this afternoon at the Detention Center after Sheriff’s Investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest.

The Sheriff’s Office received information on March 30, 2012 from an Investigation Specialist with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Golden, Colorado indicating that GERALD STOW was residing in Baxter County.  Colorado authorities indicated that STOW was previously registered as a sex offender in the State of Colorado after being convicted of the offense of Aggravated Incest in that state on June 26, 1989.  As a result of this conviction, STOW was required to register for life as a sex offender.

STOW was registered in Colorado until October 10, 2002 when he informed Colorado authorities that he was moving out of state but did not know where he would be living.  After verifying that STOW was living at 149 Lake Lane and had never registered here, Sheriff’s Investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest.

GERALD LEROY STOW was booked into the Detention Center with bond set at $2,500.  He will appear in Circuit Court on April 26th.
