POLAR PLUNGE FUNDRAISER SET FOR FEBRUARY 25th

02/17/2012

It is time once again for our POLAR PLUNGE fundraiser to support the athletes of Special Olympics of Arkansas.  This year’s POLAR PLUNGE will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Henderson Park on Lake Norfork.  Registration begins at 10:00 AM, and the plunge will commence at 11:00 AM.

The plunge is open to anyone or any group who wants to participate and help raise money for Special Olympics of Arkansas.  Each person needs to raise a minimum of $50.00 to register and “take the plunge”.   Costumes are encouraged, but not necessary.  There will be prizes awarded for best costume, youngest plunger, oldest plunger, largest group plunging together, and etc.  Wet suits are not allowed.

Special Olympics of Arkansas arranges sporting activities and events for persons with intellectual disabilities.  These events promote inclusion, involvement, and participation for the athletes in team events and activities.  Special Olympics and Law Enforcement have a partnership dating back to the early 1980’s.  Your local law enforcement hosts fundraising events such as this POLAR PLUNGE, the TIP-A-COP, and the TORCH RUN events.  All monies raised are used to provide training, coaching, travel, lodging, and other associated expenses for the athletes of Special Olympics to help provide the financial means for them to participate in group athletic and sporting events throughout the state.

Registration forms are available at the Sheriff’s Office and the Mountain Home Police Department.  All donations and contributions are tax deductible.  Let’s all come together as a community to make this year’s POLAR PLUNGE the best ever!  We appreciate your involvement and support of our athletes.
