FELONY DRUG CHARGES FILED AFTER DEPUTY MAKES A TRAFFIC STOP

02/06/2012

 Nicholas Anthony Tomei

A Mountain Home man, 32 year old NICHOLAS ANTHONY TOMEI, was arrested on two felony drug offenses by Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Holland during a vehicle stop on Sunday, February 5th.  Sergeant Holland pulled TOMEI over at approximately 9:57 PM for operating a vehicle without a license plate on Baxter CR 57.

TOMEI gave deputies consent to search his vehicle.  During the search, a set of digital scales were found underneath the driver’s seat.  Deputies also saw a full package of Newport cigarettes inside the vehicle, as well as three single cigarettes in the ash tray.  TOMEI was released after receiving a citation for the license offense.  After TOMEI pulled away, deputies found a Newport cigarette box of the same kind in TOMEI’s vehicle that was on the roadway very near where TOMEI had stopped his vehicle.  Deputies examined the box and found inside a clear plastic bag containing approximately one (1) gram of a white crystallized substance.  This substance tested positive for methamphetamine.

Deputies began looking for TOMEI’s vehicle.  At approximately 10:27 PM, Corporal Charles Bost found TOMEI and pulled him over again on Highway 201 South.  At that time, NICHOLAS TOMEI was arrested on drug charges and transported to the Detention Center.

     TOMEI has been charged with:

Possession of Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine – Class D Felony

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Class D Felony

TOMEI was released from custody after posting bond in the amount of $5,000.  He is scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on February 16th.
