SHERIFF'S OFFICE ACTIVITY SUMMARY FROM NEW YEARS' WEEKEND

     The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office experienced an average holiday weekend during New Years with respect to field activity of the deputies and calls for service.

     For the period of Friday, December 30th thru Monday, January 2nd, the Sheriff’s Office received 67 complaint calls or calls for service of all kinds.  These included 7 disturbances, 4 traffic accidents, 7 alarm calls, and 7 break-in or theft complaints.  Deputies took 14 incident/offense reports during this period. 

     There were 11 persons booked into the Baxter County Detention Center for alcohol-related offenses from arrests made by all local law enforcement agencies.  7 of those arrests were for driving while intoxicated, while the remaining 4 arrests were for public intoxication.  One of the persons arrested for DWI was also charged with minor in possession of alcohol.

     Sheriff’s deputies also wrote 9 citations for traffic and misdemeanor offenses, and issued 20 written warnings for traffic violations.  In addition, 11 persons were served with outstanding warrants of arrest covering 19 different charges from various departments.  Most were for failure to appear in court or for non-payment of fines.

     Deputies assisted the Arkansas State Police with a sobriety checkpoint held during the weekend, and three additional deputies were on patrol during New Years’ Eve.  Only 1 person was arrested for DWI on New Years’ Eve.
