SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED TODAY FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER

      ROBERT EUGENE HURST, 33 years old, has been arrested for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, a Felony.  The Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Arkansas Department of Corrections on December 9th that HURST had been released from their facility on December 2nd.  Since the time of his release, HURST, who is from the Mountain Home area, had not registered as a sex offender with any local law enforcement agency.  He is required by law to register within ten (10) days of his release.

      HURST is a Level 3 (high risk to re-offend) sex offender.  HURST was convicted in November, 2007 of computer child pornography and sexual indecency with a child, which involved him engaging in a sexually explicit internet communication with and arranging to meet a person he believed to be a 14 year old female.

     Today, the Sheriff’s Office received a tip that ROBERT EUGENE HURST was at a location in Mountain Home.  Deputies found him there and took him into custody.  HURST was taken to the Baxter County Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $15,000 bond.  He is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on January 5th.
