Sheriff's Office has busy Fourth of July Holiday weekend

The Sheriff’s Office experienced a relatively busy Fourth of July Holiday weekend this year, although there were no major holiday-related incidents reported. For the period of Friday, July 1 through Monday, July 4, the following activity was recorded:
Complaint calls or calls for service received: 135
Jail Bookings (all law enforcement agencies): 34
Warnings for traffic/equipment violations: 37
Citations for traffic/misdemeanor violations:
No motorcycle endorsement: 1
Speeding: 3
Stop sign violation: 1
Assault on family member: 1
Driving while suspended: 3
No child restraint: 2
No liability insurance: 4
Expired vehicle license: 2
Public Intoxication: 2
Furnishing Alcohol to Minor: 1
Reckless driving: 1
Domestic battery 3rd degree: 3
Driving While Intoxicated: 1
Careless driving: 1
Refusal of blood alcohol test: 1
Possess instrument of crime: 1
No seat belt: 1
Fail to register vehicle: 1
TOTAL CITATIONS: 30
There were also at least two Boating While Intoxicated arrests made by State Wildlife Officers, and Sheriff’s deputies arrested two minors for Public Intoxication and one adult for Furnishing Alcohol to Minors at the Robinson Point Campground, following a complaint made by a Corp of Engineers Park Ranger.
In addition to the regularly scheduled patrols, the Sheriff’s Office utilized several additional deputies at and around Norfork Lake on July 3rd for the annual fireworks display, including deputies working from patrol boats and the Sheriff’s Office helicopter. It was noted that all vehicular traffic was cleared out within an hour after the fireworks display concluded. Assistance was also provided to several boaters who experienced difficulties such as mechanical engine failure and dead batteries.
