Wife Shoots Husband During Dispute, Both Transported to Hospital

06/25/2011

June 25, 2011, at approximately 1:49 pm, a 911 received a call from a neighbor of a woman who claimed she had just shot her husband and needed an ambulance. Baxter County Sheriff's Deputy Kris Savino arrived at 1:55 and found a male subject, 51 year old Fred Wayne Dees, on the front porch of the residence at 150 CR 1434 which is located North of Mountain Home in the Clarkridge, Arkansas area. Dees was covered in blood and was holding a towel on his face.

Ambulance Personnel arrived and transported Fred Dees and his wife, 52 year old Linda S. Dees, to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. Linda Dees was treated for injuries and released and Fred Dees was transported to Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri where he is listed in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the face.

Investigators Eric Neal and Mike Day from the Baxter County Sheriff's Office arrived and began their investigation. Preliminary investigation reveals that Fred Dees was shot once in the right side of the face on the right side of the nose, just above the nostril with a 22 caliber Beretta Semi-Automatic Hand Gun. Linda Dees had injuries to her face and chest. Other evidence was also collected at the scene

Although there is evidence of an argument, there are conflicting stories from Fred and Linda Dees as to sequence of events that led up to the shooting. The 22 caliber handgun was recovered and taken into evidence. The shooting incident is under active investigation and the results will be turned over to Prosecutor Ron Kincade once the investigation is completed. More details will be revealed after the case is reviewed by the prosecutor.
