SEX OFFENDER LIVING IN CLARKRIDGE ARRESTED FOR FAILING TO REGISTER

01/06/2011

A Clarkridge area man has been arrested for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in Baxter County, Arkansas.

NAME:                       ALEXANDAR ERNEST SIMMONS

DATE OF BIRTH:   December 9, 1990

HOME ADDRESS:  767 Chriswood Dr.

                                    Clarkridge, AR 72623

The offender was convicted of Child Molestation in the Second Degree on 08/24/2009 in Greene County, Missouri.  This offense involved the offender engaging in sexual contact with a 12 year old female.

Alexandar Simmons came to the Sheriff’s Office to register today, January 6th.  During the interview process, it was determined that Simmons had been residing in Baxter County since November 24, 2010, after having moved here from Greene County, Missouri.  Arkansas law requires that if a sex offender moves here from another state, then the offender must report to the law enforcement agency in that area to register within three (3) business days after establishing residency. Simmons failed to comply with this section of the law.

Communication with the Greene County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office indicated that Alexandar Simmons should have reported to their office in September, 2010 but did not.  Their last contact with him had been in June, 2010.

Alexandar Simmons was arrested and taken into custody.  He was incarcerated in the Baxter County Detention Center on a felony charge of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.  His bond was set at $15,000.  He will appear in Circuit Court later this month.
