CITIZEN TIPS LEAD TO QUICK IDENTIFICATION OF SUSPECT IN COTTER THEFT CASE

08/31/2010

Within minutes of a shoplifting suspect's photo being posted on the Sheriff's Office "Most Wanted" page, citizen tips have resulted in the identification of the suspect and charges being filed against him.

The Cotter Police Department requested that the Sheriff's Office post a digital photo of a shoplifting suspect captured on a security camera from the Bayman Beverage store in Cotter on August 19th.  Within approximately fifteen (15) minutes of being posted on the Sheriff's Web Site and the Sheriff's Office Facebook page today, the Sheriff's Office received two messages on Facebook and two telephone calls from citizens informing officers of the probable identity of the suspect.

Investigators evaluated the citizen information and determined that the suspect in the theft was 35 year old Bronson E. Kittler of Bull Shoals.  Kittler was found to still be incarcerated in the Baxter County Detention Center following his arrest yesterday on a charge of DWI.  A misdemeanor charge of Theft of Property was added to his charges, with a court appearance in the Cotter Department - District Court set for October 4th.

This is another example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies work together with one another and with the public to solve crimes and investigate criminal activity.  The Sheriff's Office and the Cotter Police Department both express their appreciation and gratitude to the public for their assistance.
