AUTHORITIES SERVE SEARCH WARRANT - FIND STOLEN PROPERTY AND METH LAB

07/14/2010

Baxter County Sheriff's Investigators are currently in the process of completing the execution of a Search Warrant on a metal building located at 582 Rocky Ridge Road in the Tracy Area.  The search warrant was obtained today after investigators found evidence of stolen property at that address from a burglary that occurred at 181 Armstrong Trail on the evening of Friday, July 9th.

A witness to the burglary was familiar with the suspects and had a probable location of where they had been staying.  Sheriff's Investigator Brad Hurst went to 582 Rocky Ridge Road.  He observed articles on a trailer outside that matched the description of articles stolen from the burglary Friday night.  Investigator Hurst made contact with a male subject inside the metal building, but this person slammed the door on the Investigator.  Other officers responded to assist, and a warrant to search the property was quickly obtained.

Officers forced entry into the building and encountered the man, later identified as Jimmy Craig, and took him into custody.  During the search, officers found evidence of a "Red P" type of methamphetamine lab inside the building.  Craig had attempted to flush some of the components down the toilet.

Items stolen from the burglary, including an unspecified amount of cash, a window air conditioner, clothing, dvd's, arrowheads, and other articles were recovered.  The DEA was contacted, and it was determined that a certified clean up crew would be needed to clean up the hazardous items and waste associated with the methamphetamine lab.

JIMMY CRAIG, 48 years old with a last reported address of Clarksville, Arkansas, was taken to the Baxter County Detention Center.  Preliminary charges include:

Manufacture of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine - Felony
Residential Burglary - Felony
Theft of Property - Felony
Failure to Appear - Misdemeanor Warrant from Johnson County Sheriff's Office
Failure to Appear - Misdemeanor Warrant from Clarksville Police Department

Bond for Jimmy Craig on the Baxter County charges has been set at $50,000, with a Circuit Court appearance later this month.

The investigation is continuing, and it is anticipated that at least one more additional arrest will be made in conjunction with this case.
