A Jonesboro man has been charged with one felony count of Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member following a domestic disturbance call in the Henderson area.
On the afternoon of November 28th, the Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call from 13671 Highway 62 East that involved a father being assaulted by his son. Sheriff's Sergeant Ken Grayham and Corporal Michael Holland arrived on scene and learned that the son, identified as Zachery Lynn West, had already fled from the residence.
The father stated he was struck in the face several times by his son, who was holding brass knuckles, and was injured. The father informed deputies that he would be going to the hospital emergency room for treatment.
Deputies alerted surrounding law enforcement agencies to keep watch for the offender. A short time later, the offender was located, stopped, and detained in Fulton County. The offender was transferred to the custody of Baxter County deputies and taken to the Baxter County Detention Center. The offender was originally charged with a misdemeanor count of Domestic Battery in the Third Degree. However, after investigators reviewed the arrest with the Prosecuting Attorney's Office, it was decided instead to file a felony charge of Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member.
Zachery Lynn West, 24 years old of Jonesboro, Arkansas, remains in the Detention Center with bond set at $7,500.00. He is scheduled for an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court on December 3rd. Zachery West was also served with two District Court warrants for Contempt of Court.
