TWO SEPARATE BREAK-INS AND THEFTS ARE CLEARED WITH ARREST OF CALICO ROCK MAN

     A Calico Rock man has been brought from Independence County to the Baxter County Detention Center on outstanding warrants of arrest for Breaking or Entering and Felony Theft of Property.

 

     On July 23rd, Sheriff’s Deputies took a report from 19 Wild Fern Trail that a 2008 Yamaha Motorcycle, a helmet, and some riding boots had been stolen from the residence.  These items were valued at $6,400.00.  Investigators developed a suspect and a suspect vehicle.  A search warrant was executed on the vehicle on August 20th , however the suspect was not located at that time.  Inside this vehicle, Investigators found evidence from the theft that had occurred on July 23rd. 

 

     On August 16th, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the boat launch ramp area of the Jordan Campground on Lake Norfork to take a report that a parked vehicle had been broken into.  Missing from the vehicle was a Ruger 10/22 rifle and scope, a hunting suit, speakers, an electric saw, and other items.  These items were valued at $760.00.  Investigators examined video evidence of the crime that was taken from the security camera system at the Jordan Marina.  Investigators developed evidence to believe that both of these break-ins and thefts were committed by the same suspect. 

 

     On August 21st, Sheriff’s Investigator Brad Hurst traveled to the Independence County Jail in Batesville, Arkansas, to interview the suspect, who was found to be in custody there on un-related charges, as well as to interview another person who may have had knowledge of these crimes. 

 

     Based on the results of the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office was able to procure warrants of arrest for the suspect.

 

            Travis L. Cagle, 30 years old of Calico Rock, was charged by warrant with:

 

                        Breaking or Entering (2 counts) – Felonies

                        Theft of Property (2 counts) – Felonies

                        Failure to Appear – Outstanding Misdemeanor Warrant

 

     Travis Cagle remains in the Detention Center with bond set at $35,610.  He appeared today in Baxter County Circuit Court.
