MOUNTAIN HOME MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED SATURDAY EVENING AFTER JUMPING FROM MOVING VEHICLE

06/06/2016

A Mountain Home man, 19 year old SHANE LEE THOMAS, was seriously injured after apparently jumping out of a moving vehicle on State Highway 5 South In the Briarcliff area Saturday evening, June 4th.

The Sheriff’s Office had received a report of a disturbance on Scenic Drive in Salesville.  Before deputies arrived, one of the parties involved in the disturbance had left as a passenger in a vehicle.  A short time later, a call was placed to the 911 Center reporting that a man had jumped from a moving vehicle and was lying in the road unresponsive.  This was later determined to be SHANE LEE THOMAS.

Other persons inside the vehicle told deputies that the vehicle was going approximately 30 miles per hour when THOMAS jumped out.  Another person inside the vehicle also jumped out to assist THOMAS after the vehicle had further slowed down.  This second person was not injured.

Deputies and emergency medical responders arrived on scene.  An air ambulance responded and ultimately airlifted THOMAS to a hospital in Springfield, Missouri in critical condition.

The incident was investigated by Sergeant Lee Sanders of the Sheriff’s Office.
