JOINT OPERATION NETS NUMEROUS ARRESTS

     The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office joined with the Arkansas State Police, the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections, the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force, the Mountain Home Police Department, and other agencies last week in a three day enhanced enforcement operation looking for wanted persons and for violations of the Arkansas Controlled Substance act.  The operation took place last Thursday, March31st, and Friday and Saturday, April 1st and 2nd. 

     During the course of the joint operation, numerous persons were arrested and incarcerated on various felony and misdemeanor charges during vehicle stops and probation home visits.  Those arrested on one or more felony charges included the following:

CINDY MARIE PIATT, 27 years old of Midway, arrested while present during a probation home search on charges of:

Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts) – Felonies
Exposure of child to methamphetamine – Felony

She was released on $7,500 bond and will appear in Circuit Court on April 7th.

MIKEL BLAINE SHORT, 44 years old of Midway, arrested during a probation home search on charges of:

Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance with Purpose of Delivery – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts) – Felonies
Exposure of child to methamphetamine – Felony

He was released on $7,500 bond and will appear in Circuit Court on April 7th.

Both PIATT and SHORT were charged with the Exposure of child to methamphetamine offense due to the fact that drug paraphernalia containing methamphetamine residue was found on a table adjacent to an open baby food container, a teething toy, and a feeding/play chair of an infant who also resides there.

HEATH D. LEE, 37 years old of Midway, arrested from a vehicle during a detention on charges of:

Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance (2 counts) – Misdemeanors
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Felony

He has a bond of $2,500 and will appear in Circuit Court on April 7th.  He is also being held without bond on a Parole Violation charge.

JAMES TYLER DAVIS, 22 years old of Norfork, arrested during a probation home visit on charges of:

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Felony
Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance – Misdemeanor

He has a bond of $2,500 and will appear in Circuit Court on April 7th.  He is also being held without bond on a Parole Violation charge.

HANNAH M. MILLER, 23 years old of Mountain Home, arrested during a probation home visit on charges of:

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Felony
Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance – Misdemeanor

She has a bond of $2,500 and will appear in Circuit Court on April 7th.

JAMIE LEE SOUTHARD, 24 years old of Jordan, arrested during a vehicle stop on charges of:

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts) – Felonies
Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance – Misdemeanor
Habitual Offender – Penalty Enhancement

He was released on a bond of $5,000 and will appear in Circuit Court on April 7th. 

JESSE RAY BOWMAN, 24 years old of Midway, arrested following a vehicle stop and a brief manhunt after fleeing from officers on foot, on charges of:

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts) – Felonies
Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance – Misdemeanor
Fleeing on Foot – Misdemeanor
Habitual Offender – Penalty Enhancement

He has a bond of $5,000 and will appear in Circuit Court on April 7th.  He is also being held without bond on a Parole Violation charge.

Seven additional people were arrested and booked into the Detention Center on misdemeanor charges and outstanding warrants during vehicle stops by deputies.

In addition to these particular arrests, there were a combined total of 36 citations and warnings issued by deputies during vehicle stops for moving traffic, licensing, and equipment violations.

The Sheriff’s Office will continue working jointly with other law enforcement agencies in enhanced enforcement operations in this county.
