06/05/2015

William Joshua Lewis

Sarah Marie Lynn

Two people were arrested Wednesday morning, June 3rd, at 148 Hopewell Hollow Road in Baxter County on multiple charges after Sheriff’s Investigators went to the residence in an attempt to locate a man who had outstanding arrest warrants and was a parole absconder.

Sheriff’s personnel, officers from the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force, and the canine tracking team from the Arkansas Department of Corrections – North Central Unit, arrived at the residence at approximately 10:30 AM.  As officers were approaching the residence, they observed two persons, later identified as 29 year old SARAH MARIE LYNN and 29 year old WILLIAM JOSHUA LEWIS, seated inside a pickup truck outside the residence.  WILLIAM LEWIS was the parole absconder and fugitive who was being sought.

Officers approached the vehicle in an effort to place WILLIAM LEWIS under arrest.  As an ADC Officer walked around to the front of the vehicle, WILLIAM LEWIS, the driver, floored the accelerator in an attempt to run over the ADC Officer.  However, the vehicle stalled and would not move.  LEWIS was then taken into custody before the truck could recover from the stall.

Inside the truck, officers found used smoking pipes with methamphetamine residue.  The female inside the vehicle, SARAH LYNN, was asked by officers if anybody else was inside the residence.  She named a brother of hers who she said was inside.  It was determined that SARAH LYNN was on probation, and a subsequent probationary search of the residence revealed a person inside other than the person she had indicated.  This person was found to have outstanding misdemeanor warrants.   Inside the residence, officers also found several used syringes, a digital scale, and other paraphernalia with methamphetamine residue.  In addition, under the mattress in the bedroom were two black powder cap and ball revolvers.  Both LEWIS and LYNN are convicted felons and thus prohibited from possessing firearms.

WILLIAM LEWIS and SARAH LYNN were both transported to the Detention Center and booked on the following charges:

WILLIAM LEWIS:

Aggravated Assault – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts) – Felonies
Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons – Felony
Theft by Receiving – Felony Warrant Breaking or Entering – Felony
Warrant Theft of Property – Misdemeanor Warrant
Parole Violation – Felony
Habitual Offender – Penalty Enhancement

WILLIAM LEWIS is being held on $25,000 bond on the new charges and without bond for the parole violation.  He will made an appearance in Circuit Court on June 4th.

SARAH MARIE LYNN:

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts) – Felonies
Possession of Firearm by Certain Persons – Felony
Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution – Misdemeanor
Habitual Offender – Penalty Enhancement

SARAH LYNN was released from custody after posting $10,000 bond.  She will appear in the Circuit Court to answer on July 16th.
