MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY WEEKEND ACTIVITY SUMMARY

05/27/2015

Baxter County Sheriff’s Deputies experienced a relatively busy Memorial Day holiday weekend this year.  Although arrests and jail bookings were down from 2014, complaint calls and calls for service exceeded those numbers from last year.

There were 130 complaint calls or calls for service made to the Sheriff’s Office from Friday through Monday, which represents a 9% increase from 2014.  There were 21 bookings made at the Baxter County Detention Center by all agencies during this time, which is a 39% decrease from 2014.  Some of these bookings were for:

3 Driving While Intoxicated
3 Drug Possession
3 Domestic Battery or Assault
2 Public Intoxication
7 Warrants Served

In addition to the Detention Center bookings, Sheriff’s Deputies issued:

13 Citations for Traffic Violations or Misdemeanors
22 Warnings for Traffic Violations

There were 28 incident/offense reports taken by deputies.

All area campgrounds and resorts appeared to be occupied at or near capacity.  The Sheriff’s Office worked jointly with U. S. Army Corp of Engineers Park Rangers in patrolling public campgrounds and public use areas on North Fork River, Norfork Lake, and Bull Shoals Lake that are within Baxter County.  No serious incidents were reported in the unincorporated areas of the county.
