Friday, July 5, 2014 at approximately 8:33 pm, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office responded to two 911 calls of a man being shot in the face. The shooting off of Sheid Road in the Norfork area involved two brothers. The two calls came from family members of both brothers.

The Norfork Volunteer Fire Department and personnel from the Baxter Regional Medical Center Ambulance Service also responded. The victim, Wesley Bryan Dickerson, age 68 was flown from his home by Air-Evac Ambulance Service to UAMS in Little Rock with injuries about his face and upper torso caused by a shotgun blast.

Sheriff’s Investigators were called and began processing the scene and interviewing witnesses. Although conflicting stories as the sequence of events, based upon physical evidence at the scene investigators arrested 54 year old Charles Ray Dickerson at the scene.

Based upon the evidence at the scene Investigators believe that the victim, Wesley Dickerson drove to his brother, Charles Dickerson’s home on Fan Leaf Lane. The Suspect, Charles told his brother Wesley to leave or he would shoot him. Charles Dickerson is believed to have then fired, from the front door of his residence, a single shot from a 12 Gauge Remington Shotgun striking the victim, Wesley in the face and upper torso.  The 12 gauge shell was a 3 inch magnum shell with #4 shot.

Damage to the truck door frame and shattered glass on the 2012 Ford F-150 truck indicate the victim, Wesley was still inside his truck when he was shot from a distance of approximately 40-50 feet. Wesley then drove himself to his home on Sheid Road and his wife called 911. The other 911 call came from Charles’ 13-year old son who was inside the residence when the incident took place.

Charles Ray Dickerson of Norfork was charged with:

Felon in Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Crime         Class B Felony
First Degree Battery                                Class B Felony

Charles Ray Dickerson is being held on $50,000 Bond in the Baxter County Detention Center pending his appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court on July on July 11 at 9 am.
