BAXTER COUNTY INMATE ATTEMPTS TO ESCAPE

      A Baxter County Jail Inmate has been charged with attempted escape after he scaled the fence around the outside recreation yard at the Detention Center this evening at approximately 6:45 PM.

     CODY WAYNE WADKINS, 25 years old of Bakersfield, Missouri, was already incarcerated awaiting trial following his arrested on February 28th by the Mountain Home Police Department on charges of felony fleeing in a vehicle and other crimes.  He had been housed in “C Pod” at the Detention Center, and he was allowed out into the recreation yard with other inmates for the standard one hour period.

     While on recreation yard call, CODY WADKINS scaled the chain link fence all the way to the top and became entangled in the razor wire at the top of the fence and sustained cuts and injuries.  He was later taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment and will be returned to the Detention Center afterwards. 

     CODY WAYNE WADKINS is being charged additionally with:

Criminal Attempt to commit Escape in the Third Degree – Class D Felony

    He will be held on this charge in lieu of $100,000 bond pending an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court on March 20th.
