02/21/2014

John Leroy Lewis

The Sheriff’s Office has arrested 47 year old JOHN LEROY LEWIS of rural Mountain Home on felony drug charges after a person cooperating with Sheriff’s Investigators made controlled buys of methamphetamine from LEWIS over a period of several days.  These transactions were monitored by Sheriff’s Investigators and Agents with the Fourteenth Judicial Drug Task Force.

JOHN LEROY LEWIS twice sold methamphetamine to the cooperating individual between December 30, 2013 and January 3, 2014. The cumulative amount of methamphetamine was approximately 5.3 grams.

LEWIS used a cellular telephone to facilitate the sale of drugs, and both transactions took place within 1000 feet of a church, thereby creating a penalty enhancement for the offenses.

JOHN LEROY LEWIS was arrested and booked into the Detention Center on the afternoon of February 20th on charges of:

Delivery of Methamphetamine  (2 counts) – Class B Felonies
Unlawful Use of Communication Device (2 counts) – Class C Felonies
Proximity to Certain Facilities – Enhanced Penalty

LEWIS remains in the Detention Center in lieu of $25,000 bond, and he is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on February 27th.
