12/23/2013

Leigh G. Blackmon

The Sheriff’s Office has arrested 21 year old LEIGH GOLDSWORTH BLACKMON of Flippin, Arkansas on a felony Theft of Property charge after deputies were called this morning to T. I. Trailers in Midway.

The manager of the establishment told deputies that he suspected LEIGH BLACKMON, an employee there, of stealing items from the shop area after another employee saw BLACKMON taking items to his truck.

The manager looked through the window of BLACKMON’s truck and could see items inside that belonged to the business.  Sheriff’s Sergeant Mike Holland went to the business.  While he was speaking with the manager, Sgt. Holland observed BLACKMON walking toward his vehicle.  Sgt. Holland made contact with BLACKMON and could see that BLACKMON was concealing something in his clothing.  BLACKMON was found to have two acetylene cutting torches and several brass fittings concealed in or under his clothing that belonged to the business.  A subsequent search of BLACKMON’s vehicle uncovered tail lamps, wiring harnesses, crimping pliers, a ratchet wrench, approximately 20 pounds of brass, and miscellaneous lighting hardware, all of which belonged to the business.  The value of these items exceeded $1,000.

LEIGH BLACKMON was taken into custody and transported to the Baxter County Detention Center.  He was incarcerated on a Class D Felony charge of Theft of Property.  He is being held in lieu of $7,500 bond, with an appearance in Circuit Court for January 2, 2014.
