BAXTER COUNTY MAN ARRESTED FOR SECOND TIME THIS MONTH ON DRUG CHARGES

     A Baxter County man, 29 year old BEN GARY DACUS, has again been arrested on felony drug charges after the Sheriff’s Office responded today to a complaint on Baxter CR 625 of a man slumped over the wheel of a pickup truck.  DACUS had previously been arrested September 9th on an outstanding felony drug warrant and was out on bond.

     Sheriff’s Deputy Phillip Gonten located the vehicle at 1264 CR 625.  The driver appeared to be passed out.  As Deputy Gonten approached the vehicle, he saw a loaded syringe in the right hand of the driver.  Deputy Gonten made contact with the driver, who was identified as BEN GARY DACUSDACUS admitted to Deputy Gonten that the syringe contained methamphetamine, at which point DACUS was taken into custody.

     A subsequent search of DACUS and his vehicle uncovered additional drugs and drug paraphernalia, including .4 grams of methamphetamine, 3 hydrocodone pills, numerous syringes, a digital scale, 2 glass pipes, and other paraphernalia.  In addition, Deputy Gonten found a loaded Marlin model 60 .22 cal pistol in the vehicle. 

     BEN GARY DACUS was transported to the Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of $25,000 bond on charges of:

Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms – Class Y Felony
Possession of Methamphetamine – Class D Felony
Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance – Class D Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Class D Felony

     DACUS will appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on September 26th.
